Last week, as a review for all of our awesome learning, students got into partnerships and made a hierarchy of the things writers of personal narratives should prioritize. It was awesome to see their thinking about each (important) part of a narrative, but also how they decided what should be ranked higher or lower. I printed them on different colors so we could visually compare and I also gave them blank white slips to add their own. Overall, it showed me how much they had learned and where I might be able to bump up the rigor in the future. They also made for awesome decorations for our publishing party–with purpose of course!
