I was looking for a way to track student thinking related to what we were doing in both read aloud and mini-lessons and was having difficulty with my two sections of 5th graders. I saw a great idea, that wasn’t overly complicated for students, on Instagram for high school students and toyed with a few different looks and tried out different comprehension work.
On Monday I quickly go over the expectations for the week and they have until Friday to turn it in. I am able to review it quickly because it is not new for them, rather it is something we spent time on and they should feel pretty comfortable with. I’m looking for how they apply the strategies/thinking to their own books without my support.
